What do they ask in a student visa interview?

Short answer

Expect questions on why this course, why this university, who is paying, and what you will do after graduating. Officers are testing whether you are a genuine student with a plan, not testing your English.

Answer briefly and consistently. Contradicting your own application — a different sponsor, a different course length — is what causes refusals, far more often than a weak answer.

Know your numbers: tuition, living costs, your sponsor's income and occupation, and the source of your funds. Vague answers about money are treated as a red flag.

Have a specific reason for the university: two modules, a lab, an accreditation, an internship link. 'It is highly ranked' is the weakest possible answer.
