Digital Master Test (APS India · g.a.s.t.)
dMAT
A standardised academic aptitude test introduced by APS India together with g.a.s.t. (the makers of TestAS and onSET) for selected Indian applicants to German Master's programmes. Participating German universities use the dMAT score to benchmark academic ability alongside your bachelor's transcript and APS certificate.
Sections
Applied maths and word problems drawn from everyday and academic contexts.
Pattern completion, figure series and logic puzzles that test structured thinking.
English comprehension, inference and argument analysis.
Discipline-specific module aligned to your Master's field — engineering/CS, natural sciences, economics or humanities.
Scoring
Reported as standardised scores and percentile ranks per section rather than pass/fail. Competitive German Master's programmes look for scores in the top quartile of your subject module.
Prep tactics that work
- Complete your APS India certification first — dMAT sits inside the same admissions pathway.
- Practise TestAS core-test material; the reasoning formats are closely related.
- Drill figure-series and pattern questions daily — speed matters more than depth here.
- Choose the subject module that matches your intended Master's, not your comfort zone.
- Rehearse on a computer with a timer — the whole test is digital and strictly timed.
